Computer Vision Engineer

OperVu, a technology company, founded to deliver operating room Retained Surgical Items solutions, is seeking a Senior Computer Vision Engineer who is not afraid of a challenge and is eager to design and support real time solutions that are transforming the medical technology industry. As a part of the OperVu team, you'll work with the latest technologies, engage with surgical teams and hospitals and help develop the first of its kind solution for cardiac, orthopedic and abdominal surgeries; resulting in saving lives by avoiding RSI related fatalities; significantly improving the hospital’s reputation, reducing hospitals’ financial and legal costs; and mitigating stress and psychological impact on the OR staff.

A Day in the Life of a Computer Vision Engineer at OperVu:

As a Senior Computer Vision Engineer on the OperVu team, you will be responsible for developing computer vision algorithms to integrate into the surgical process flow and assist the operating team with tracking surgical items.

Your insight and expertise will be crucial in the development of the products we build and will influence decisions on architecture. You'll join a growing team of experts in engineering, software development and medical operating room practices, who you’ll collaborate with as you apply the latest advancements in computer vision technology. You’ll also frequently work with customers and external stakeholders as part of our customer-focused approach to development of our cutting-edge solutions. You can expect to talk to surgeons and hospital administrators about their challenges and partner with them to test our solutions.

You will be an early member of the technical team at OperVu, and will have the opportunity to influence our technical direction as we work towards proving and unveiling our work to the world.

What You Must Have:

  • M.S/ Ph.D degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • 5+ years industry experience in video object detection and tracking
  • Background in the form of industry experience, independent course work, publications, and/or side projects related to the application of ML/DL models to solve computer vision tasks such as image classification and object detection
  • Proven experience with developing object detection models (YOLO, Faster R-CNN, Mask R-CNN, SSD, etc)
  • Expertise in Python language
  • Ability to rapidly prototype using common ML/DL/CV frameworks and libraries such as OpenCV, TensorFlow, Torch, Scipy, Scikit-Learn, etc
  • Balance between research and experimentation of state-of-the-art methods in CV and practical implementation of algorithms on a production unit

Additional Experience We’d Like You to Have:

  • Experience developing and integrating deep learning-based object tracking algorithms
  • Ability to work in a Linux environment, including familiarity with Linux terminal Bash shell commands

Team members can expect occasional travel for in-person meetings and site visits.
